A few weeks ago I was a finalist for the Northamptonshire Chamber Next Generation awards. I was up for the Creative Star of the Year award which was celebrating young professionals (under 30’s) who were making an impact in business in Northamptonshire. As many of you know, I run Northampton Life Magazine and with that it provides numerous opportunities to help businesses get noticed. My role is entirely creative so I was thrilled to even be considered for the award.
I unfortunately, didn’t win – but I loved being a part of it and the judges comments included ‘Passionate, fresh approach and bringing impact’ and for me, that’s more than enough to say I’m doing a good thing here.
So whilst I didn’t win – it’s always a fun occasion to dress up so I thought I’d show you what I wore and my outfit of the night!

Dressing for black tie
Black tie is always such a hard outfit to get right, you never want to be under dressed but you also want to feel like a million dollars so this was such a last minute decision. I bought FOUR dresses for the occasion, all of them returned. This was ordered on the Tuesday and arrived on the Wednesday and luckily it fit! I actually LOVED this dress.
Whilst I know I’m a small girl, I find my hips can make me look a lot bigger than I am in the wrong outfit. Luckily, this Missguided number came through and extenuated my curves in the right ways! Who said a black dress had to be little!
This dress is a one shoulder maxi dress with a slit in the leg (just the right amount of leg on show too!) I’m a size 8 and this with heels was just the right length. To get your dress click here. At only £30 it’s definitely one to keep in the wardrobe for those last minute do’s! [SEE DRESS HERE] – af link.

Accessories!
I paired it with loose waves using my GHD curling wand which is a god-send curler as its so easy to use and gives you that loose blow-dry wave that lasts all night. My clutch was a bargain from the Accesorize sale for only £6.60 too! Makeup wise, I went for my trusted favourites for long lasting, pore perfect base. For any special occasion I bring out the best of the best – Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter Primer with MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NC13.
I wore my black lace stilettos from New Look which were actually super comfortable too! Fantastic evening and already looking for the next do – just need to get outfit planning well ahead this time!
