My March – What I’ve been up to!

inside Cambridge magazine thebeautytype.com

I swear we all said January dragged but since then it’s felt like the last few months have FLOWN! March has gone by in a blink of an eye and I don’t understand how it’s already April! March has been one of my best months to date. I feel like I’ve achieved so much.

I’m secretly glad for the month to end as it means I’ll have been freelancing and working at the magazine for a year. It’s time to do my taxes in a few weeks and with that brings a final calculation on how I’ve done. I’m secretly really excited. I’ve tried to be really good and save up my tax fund each month rather than panic at the end of the year. Here’s hoping the tax man is kind to me!

So, without further ado, let’s get into my monthly roundup!

Setting up a new business

inside Cambridge magazine thebeautytype.com

So yes, I’ve not stopped banging on about it but this month we have set up a new magazine! Following the success of Northampton Life Magazine we’re now launching our sister publication in Cambridge. As many of you know, I grew up in Newmarket and I studied in Cambridge so it’s so nice to be bringing it back home. We launch officially in April but March has been about prep, photo days, website building, PR networking and much more.  One magazine keeps me busy so two is going to be fun!

Northamptonshire Food and Drink awards launch

This month I was lucky enough to attend the opening of the Northamptonshire Food and Drink awards 2019/20. The event was held to kick off the awards which run throughout the year ending with the ceremony and awards at the end of the year. Last year I was lucky enough to attend the event itself as we are a media sponsor.

We went down to Falls Farm where the wonderful Warner’s Gin (formally Warner Edwards Gin) is situated. This meant we got to go on a tour of the distillery and then onto The Tollemache Arms which is a beautiful village pub. They put on a fantastic spread of food for us too which was well needed after a few gin tastings! A fantastic event and a great way to kick off this years event.

Relaunched The Beauty Type

As you may have seen by the new logo and layouts, The Beauty Type has had a relaunch. As the blogging world evolves as does my career, my blog wasn’t a home I felt really sold ‘me’ as a person. I have never *just* been a beauty blog, I’ve always written about things that I enjoy whether that is makeup, food, travel, my local area etc. Considering the job I do and the experiences it provides for me, I wanted to ensure I can still capture those whilst writing about the things I enjoy. I feel like this update has given me a better concept on what I want The Beauty Type to be!

I no longer see my blog as just a blog either but a website that has a blog amongst other things. You will find all my blog posts here in one convenient page, you’ll find particular sections in the drop down menu and you can see more about me, my publications and how to contact me too. I love the new logo, it feels much more me and on brand so I hope you like it too!

Got the roof work started – yawn for being an adult!

Onto the boring bits of life and as you will have seen in my last renovation post, we’re working on our roof! It’s finally happened and the scaffolding is covering our house in darkness! It feels like the most grown up thing to have scaffolding up as you know you mean business when you have to use it.

We’re hoping to have the roof done within the next week which should allow us to get back to concentrating on the fun jobs like decorating, the fence and the garden!

Visited Market Harborough

We visited Market Harborough on a Friday annual leave day and it was a delight. The sun was shining, we ate good food which you can see here and we just enjoyed visiting a new town. There’s loads of cute shops, restaurants and plenty to see so I look forward to returning again in the summer. It’s funny what you can find when you take a short drive. We’re determined to explore more of the towns around us!
