Tips for selling your clothes on Vinted

Vinted Tips and Tricks on how to sell succesfully - The Beauty Type Blog

If you haven’t seen the adverts for Vinted, you’re probably living under a rock. The clothes selling app works with zero selling fees so what you make you keep! You can list for free and include all the details/photos you like. You box up/parcel up your items and drop off at the post office or a drop off point within five days of selling. Once the buyer receives the item, they mark as received, leave you a review and you’ll receive the money in your account. Simple right? We’ll here’s some tips to make your selling process a success! I’m not being paid to share this, I have just enjoyed selling items through the app and many people have asked me about it lately so thought I’d share how I’m making a few pounds from it!

The best items I’ve picked up on Vinted are Jojo Mama Bebe clothing for Romilly, a whole set of Happy Land animals for her Christmas present that were in great quality, shoes for Rom and for myself a brilliant Topshop denim jacket which was in great condition and half the price of others on the market. If you give it a good look and save your favourite searches, you can keep an eye on the latest uploads far more easily. Ebay definitely got pushed to the back when Facebook marketplace opened up but now Vinted is the easy way to buy online from anywhere with very little hassle.

Fill in your profile fully

Make sure to have a profile with details, an image and make it seem credible. You are more likely to be bought from with a proper profile. I am pretty vague about my location since it doesn’t make a big difference/isn’t worth being specific if you live somewhere small but it’s good to have all the details filled in.

Postage – Do’s and Don’ts!

So this tip is the most important, postage is where you could quickly fall down with the app, like I did initially! There’s a number of partners where you can post your parcels through and buyers can choose from these. I turned off Evri as an option as I had a parcel get damaged in transit which wasn’t ideal for my profile/profit. I have just kept Royal Mail turned on for now but this is all about preference and convenience as to where your local branches are. Evri are slowly getting better again so just decide on what works best for you.

A medium parcel that is under 2kg (which most clothing items are) is only £3.45 (ish) when sent second class standard post through Royal Mail. This means when selling average items you’ll never go over your postage and lose out in costs. Don’t go for small unless it’s the kind of item that could fit through a letterbox, that’s the best way to look at it. When I first used the app I just chose small thinking a small top would be a small parcel but this actually cost me a lot vs what the buyer paid in postage. This is my must-follow tip for Vinted! You can of course find out first class but I don’t see the need to.

Share the best quality well lit images

I know this is a standard for all photography but you wouldn’t believe how many bad photos there are on the app. People will be trying to sell quick and easy so not taking much care in the image. However, you are more likely to sell on Vinted with decent images. A well lit, nice background will help! Plenty of images are ideal and always specify any defects just so people can’t dispute it later.

I am always turned off when people say ‘New, never been worn or new with tags’ yet they’re taking a photo of themselves in it. Even though we’re not stupid and know you’re likely to have tried it on at some point, it’s a big turn off when you’re specifically searching for new items to see someone wear it, in my opinion anyway! So try to take it on a hanger/showing all of the tags, quality or any damage is shown obviously! I’ve also found it annoying when people share photos of a blogger or someone else wearing the item, it’s misleading. You’re more likely to get a sale if you’re authentic.

Upload in batches!

I find that when I upload a handful of items at once tend to get more visibility and chances of sales. Try to maybe do them once a week. It can be hit and miss what sells and when it will sell, and sometimes an item you think may be amazing, doesn’t sell. So don’t presume you know what will work as it can totally depend on what people are searching for. Try to think seasonally though, don’t expect a toddler coat to sell in the height of summer!

So those are my little tips for using Vinted! Nothing groundbreaking but little helps to make your selling successful! We’ve sold everything from baby clothing (an absolute gold mine on there), brand new Dr Martens, well loved jeans in bundles, baby toys and brand new Anthropology! It’s also great if you’re looking to buy as you can search by brand new too!

You can join Vinted here by using my referral code, I’m not entirely sure what I get from it but every little helps!
