Let’s talk about Glossier

Someone accidentally leaked a 50% off discount code for Glossier a few months ago now and I quickly got my order in. The brand, true to their word, honoured all orders even though it was a massive leak which you have to applaud really. I had always been interested in the makeup as The Anna Edit often talks about various products in her videos but it looked far too boujee for someone like me.

I have been pleasantly surprised and my opinions have changed since trying a handful of their products, some of which are best sellers too. I have mixed feelings on a couple of products but Glossier focuses on the ‘no-makeup-makeup’ look which is not something I would usually look for in makeup. I am a big fan of conceal and cover normally. So let’s delve into what’s what with Glossier and the products you definitely need to try.

Futuredew – let’s not beat around the bush, this is a product that is taking Glossier to heights. This is an instant dewy look product that is supposed to be used as skincare but essentially is a makeup primer. Applied all over, this product gives your skin a super shot of glow. It may not be everyone’s taste as I definitely prefer a matte t-zone however, I can totally see the appeal of this product. It does give you a pep in your products and even if you just use on your cheeks, it brightens the face from within. I don’t think I’m brave enough to use this everyday or all over my face but I appreciate that this product is like no other and if you love a bit of glow and dew, this is the product for you. I think I prefer this if it had a bit of tint/coverage.

I actually purchased a facial sun lotion in the form of InvisibleShield, this is an SPF30 water/gel formula that is lightweight and helps protect your skin. Whilst I appreciate this product in the face it feels luxurious to apply and doesn’t feel heavy. It did clog my pores a bit and I noticed a few more breakouts than I’d like. It didn’t leave me sticky or shiny so if you’re looking for a facial SPF that doesn’t leave that horrible feeling, this is definitely worth a go especially during summer but also all year round.

The one product I just haven’t got on with unfortunately is the mascara, Lash Slick. Maybe because it’s the more ‘no-makeup-makeup’ thing but it just doesn’t do anything! They say this lifts and lengthens the lashes for an extensions effect but I have to disagree. I think it could do with more product on the brush even if you wanted a natural look. Just not the mascara for me but always interesting to try new alternatives!

Two stand out products are the Cloud Paint in Puff and the Boy Brow in Blond. Cloud Paint is a gel cream that used in small amounts (and I mean small) creates a lovely soft focus glow on the cheeks and can even be used on the lips. It is soft and easy to apply but can take a few attempts to get the right amount, luckily it blends so easily and creates a lovely flush. If you love a look from within or subtle pink hue this is a beautiful colour.

Boy Brow is very similar to Benefit’s Gimmie Brow but applies more colour than Gimmie Brow. What I like about this is the colouring is very accurate to my blonde but not light brows and it grooms brows into place without looking too over done or drawn in.

I definitely think I would try more cloud paints and products similar to that again and may look at complexion products next but it’s more of the ‘no makeup, makeup’ look which isn’t my go to normally so will be one I’ll keep an eye on!
