I’m Pregnant! My 6-12 week diary!

Im pregnant first trimester update and annoucement thebeautytype.com The Beauty Type

Guess what… We’re having a baby! An actual human – who’d of thought. So if you’re reading this post, it’s past the twelve week point, all is well and the world will know! I wanted to document my first trimester and announcement in one post so this is a going to be a LONG ol blog post. So grab a cuppa and join me in the world of pregnancy!

TW: There will be mentions of sickness, honest emotions and it’s a HEFTY post as it’s like a diary insert. So don’t read on if you’re not good with sick, find pregnancy a difficult subject and also understand this is a honest one.

NOTE: I actually found out that my dates were 5 days out so these week’s are probably inaccurate but I can’t be bothered to do the maths to figure it out!

Six Weeks of Pregnancy

So now I’m at 6 (plus days) weeks and I find it strange that it’s closer to two months than it is 1. If you don’t know, like I didn’t, you date from the day of the last period which I find very bizarre but it is what it is. We have a due date already which is very surreal and the countdown begins.

We have already been lucky to have our first booking-in appointment which is where they chat through everything you need to know, when things happen, loads of paperwork and things to do/not do.

I need to go have a blood test soon which is my least favourite thing as I have a fear of needles following a bad experience in Crete so this is going to be an interesting journey.

Seven Weeks

I have thrown up for the first time which was delightful. I’m at this awkward stage where I wake up and have a small window of feeling ok, then I really don’t want to get up and I know I need food but the sight of food then makes me want to throw up. Today it wasn’t too bad but I need to find a routine that can keep it at bay. The weirdest part of all the symptoms is that everything happens when I’m on my own. Like throwing up, crying etc, so when Dan comes home, it just looks like I’m being tired which is nothing unusual with me ha!

Seven (plus some days I can’t be bothered to count)

I have hit a real wall this week with pregnancy. I thought the small sickness I had on Monday was bad but the last few days have been horrendous. It’s the tiredness, constant fear of when you’re next going to be sick and also losing your personality. I have no interest in anything, I have so much work I do but I can’t bring myself to get it done. I want to cry at the thought of everything. I’m super off my food which if you’ve followed my instagram, you’ll know I LOVE food. I’m only interested in beige food and savoury items. Aren’t chips the best?

Last night I drove home from work after a fairly easy day but I got a migraine, my vision went and I rushed back home, got into a dark room and spent 3 hours with dim lights. I ate peas and a couple of chips for my dinner then went to bed. At about 10pm I felt atrocious again and thew up not once but twice. Possibly the worst throw up I’ve done in years. I just thought to myself, how long do I have to keep doing this? I’m finding it all a bit overwhelming to be honest, I don’t know how to feel, I have no desire to do anything and it’s really getting me down.

*Note: I realised the reason I threw up extra in the evening was due to a meal review I did that afternoon. It wasn’t food poisoning but I had a vegan meal which was mostly mushroom which I didn’t realise, it just didn’t settle well at all. So that and a migraine was not fun.

8 weeks

So after a dramatic LONG week last week, I’m now onto the size of a wild strawberry, must be wild! I had to have Friday off work as I wasn’t in a good way and then the weekend was rather chilled just to see if I could recover a bit. I had to cancel plans which sucked but it won’t be forever.

Today is a Wednesday and I am feeling pretty happy today, it was weird being at a work function last night and having to ask what I could eat and opting for orange juice over fizz (and unlikely option for me!) However, I have woken up with a bit of a clearer head. I think the more the news comes out to people around me, the more I feel calmer about it all.

9 weeks

I’m only a few days into week nine but this has been the most challenging mentally. I’m finding life a bit of a struggle at this point, I’m getting grumpy at people, I’m making mistakes at work and just feeling pretty exhausted. Think about the the most tired you’ve ever been in your life, this is it, except you can’t tell anyone, tweet about it or do anything about it.

This week was my birthday and it’s my first birthday with Dan where we’ve not had an exciting meal and drinks planned. It was so low-key but it was lovely, I didn’t throw up at all this weekend which was a nice birthday treat and I’m slowly feeling more ‘me’ again.

10 weeks

I FINALLY FEEL MORE ME AGAIN! Week ten of pregnancy has been by far the best of all of them. Whilst I’ve still been sick every morning (bar weekends, baby hates mornings, takes after it’s mum) I have felt a lot better. Gradually I have more energy and I’m up for cooking and eating more foods. The cravings have been kicking in this week, I have been DYING for a roast dinner all week (specifically a Carvery) so that’s what we’re doing this weekend.

I also have a definite bump. I didn’t think I’d show this quick so I’m just glad it’s cold so I can layer up for the next two weeks. I’m getting a little more nervous but I’m pretty chilled as a human anyway and so far I’ve had it relatively easy. Whilst I’ve complained about EVERYTHING, it has been an easy pregnancy I’m sure. I’m just dramatic haha!

11 weeks

One more week to go, until I can breathe! Week 10 and 11 have been so good for me mentally, I’m getting back into life again whether it’s work or home. My sickness is definitely fading and the days where I don’t throw up I feel like a new woman. It’s been a relatively relaxed week and I’m just sitting waiting on the countdown for Thursday. I also have a proper bump this week that is getting slightly harder to hide if I wear tighter tops or skirts which makes it feel cute and real.

12 weeks

We made it to the scan and baby is happy and healthy and suddenly I feel like I’ve joined the pregnancy journey officially. Life feels wholesome and I’m so happy now! Roll on the 2nd trimester!
