Since January is all about vegan food and Veganuary, it’s always interesting to try new products and goodies. Friend in Me Bakery is fronted by the lovely Amber who got in touch with me a few weeks ago about trying her delicious cakes and goodies. As everything Amber bakes is 100% vegan (unless gluten free by request) which is quite unique to Northamptonshire.
Amber dropped these treats off (there were loads!) to my office a week or so ago, I was suffering really badly with a cold and sleeping so badly so sweet treats we very much welcomed. Something I’ve found with vegan food, especially in January, is that no matter your requirement or dietary needs you can be in safe hands with vegan (to an extent of course).

Trying vegan when it comes to sweet treats!
I have found myself choosing vegan not by obvious choice but because of the taste and sound of it. I love a vegan curry and many dishes come with fantastic flavours despite the lack of meat. I think there’s more emphasis on flavour when it comes to vegan because you’re not rely on meat to offer it.
Whilst these are obviously cakes and brownies, it’s nice to know taste isn’t compromised with the lack of eggs or animal products. You truly wouldn’t know it was a vegan bake which I think is nice because whilst Friend in Me mentions it, they don’t push heavily on the vegan front but allow the cakes to sell themselves. It means it’s more accessible to all and also offers the option for dairy or egg intolerances! Winner all round especially these days.

I was lucky enough to try a fantastic assortment of cupcakes including biscoff (which if you know me, I love a biscoff cake) so it was great to see a vegan option is available for my favourite cake. I also loved the brownies which were rich and delicious – it took me a little while to eat because it was so indulgent, the way a good brownie should be. She had even included some cinnamon dinky doughnuts which Dan tucked into and enjoyed with a cup of coffee after dinner.
Each cake was beautifully presented and came in a presentation box so if you’re looking for a celebration cake or treat for a friend or relative, you’ll be in good hands. Amber can deliver across Northampton and Northamptonshire (discuss your requirements with her) and you can also find prices and products on her website.
