Pure Spa in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

David Lloyd gyms Peterborough pure spa beauty blog The Beauty Type

[Ad-gifted] Life gets busy! Whether it’s work, home or just the time of year – it’s hard to slow down and find five minutes for yourself where you fully switch off. I was recently invited to Pure Spa in Peterborough which is located within the David Loyd gym to experience their pamper experience. As I live between Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, Peterborough has quickly become one of our favourite places to shop and visit and so I was definitely up for some ‘me’ time!

I was offered a Pure Spa experience with a deep tissue massage. It was a sixty minute massage of pure relaxation and I can only say good things. I did fall asleep – but that surely is a sign of a great treatment! Pure Spa is a day spa group and offers all your favourite salon treatments with a spa experience. Whilst the gym’s ‘sauna/steam/pool’ that you’d usually expect is separate and situated within the gym, the welcome and facilities of the salon are just like a luxury hotel spa experience.

The Pure Spa brand has thirteen spa’s across the UK with the Peterborough branch only opening in May! When I entered the spa I was welcomed by my masseuse who was extremely welcoming, gave me a full tour and explained the treatment to me. The spa has been created with the busy woman in mind and like myself, I well needed a break from a busy working week.

Pure also offers a vegan friendly service, a wide variety of treatments and a skincare range! So, onto my treatment which was quite beautiful!

Deep tissue massage!

A deep tissue massage involves getting deep into the muscles across the whole body and releases all that tension from sitting at a desk, stress or just life in general. My masseuse explained the treatment to me and began with a foot scrub massage which was really refreshing (just mind if you’re ticklish!)

I was then able to get on the bed and lay face down whilst I had all my muscles worked on. Personally, my favourite part is my back being rubbed as I always have the equivalent to the Himalayas on my shoulders so I love trying to work these out. As it was a full body massage I had everywhere from my legs, arms, hands and back massaged. Once we reached the top of my back, I’m 99% sure I fell asleep.

It put me in such a deep trance and relaxed state that I forgot about work, life and just enjoyed being in this mellow state. The massage was 60 minutes long but I could’ve easily stayed all day. The treatment costs £80 – which is possibly more than you’d expect but in similar line to a spa experience and I would definitely pay that again.

I walked out feeling a lot less tense and stressed and it took me five minutes to come back around before driving home!
