Last week I was kindly invited along to my first proper Cambridge based blogging event at John Lewis Cambridge. It was all in aid of the Spring trends coming up, what’s new at John Lewis and a look at their beauty department which is exclusive to their and one other store. There was a mini catwalk with some of the new pieces in the store from the concessions as well as a talk from a few beauty brands.
When we arrived we were given a glass of fizz and sat down within the brasserie ready for the talks. As I say, I didn’t know anyone at this event which is always daunting but everyone was super lovely and its a huge group of bloggers in Cambridge so I quickly got chatting with people.
We had demostrations from the designer Coach which highlighted their latest bag range and a bit of history on the brand which I didn’t know before. There was also information from Sarah Chapman skincare, REN, Evolve and many other beauty brands.
After the talks we were invited down to the beauty department where the fun began.
Firstly I spoke to the representative at REN. They are a brand I’ve heard of loads about in the beauty community but had not got around to trying their products fully before. I didn’t know they were actually a UK brand, I thought they were American or Netherlands way. It was really interesting hearing from the brand rep more about the ethics behind the brand and how they are working hard to make everything more recyclable or at least more obvious.
I also got to speak to a new brand to John Lewis called Evolve who are based in St Albans way but have made it onto the shelves of John Lewis. They are natural artisan skincare company who homemake every product. I love the natural look of these products and the chocolate scrub smelt divine. I was able to pick up some samples of this brand so I’m looking forward to seeing what they can do. To make it to John Lewis as an artisan brand, they must be good.
Whilst I would have loved to have seen more makeup specific brands, I love skincare all the same so it was great to learn more about companies in the store and try some new products. The goodie bags we left with we filled to the brim with goodies from the respective brands of the night as well as lots of perfume samples, other skincare treats and a couple of makeup items. There’s so much to get through I look forward to trying it all!
It was a great event at a wonderful store. John Lewis just oozes glamour and tradition and their beauty department is HUGE. There’s every brand you could want under one roof with loads of staff ready to help you with your concerns or wants.
If you haven’t visited the Cambridge store, you must, situated in the beautiful Grand Arcade shopping centre, you’ll want it all.
