Food boxes are popular for busy workers, those looking to learn how to cook or anyone looking for food inspiration. We have tried a few food box companies over the last few years but we constantly return to Gousto. Gousto food boxes are the best on the market. As you get to choose your menu, we went for a few varied options. I tend to let Dan pick two and I pick two and generally we both are in agreement!
We went for the Spicy Hoisin Pork With Ginger & Sesame Veg, Warming Persian Beef & Lentil Stew, Simple Smoked Fish Florentine Bake and the Easy Chipotle Mac ‘N’ Cheese.
All of these meals you can see are in the surrounding images. We think our favourite of the four meals had to be the spicy hoisin pork! It was such a simple but ingenious recipe and the use of pork mince in a Chinese style dish has inspired us to start using pork more often.
You receive all of your ingredients in perfectly portioned sizes so all you need to do each dinner time is get your best ‘Ready Steady Cook’ on and bring it all together. Sometimes we looked at the ingredients and both wondered how it could possibly make a meal for two with only a handful of ingredients and not much of it. Those were the dishes that ended up leaving us with leftovers! It’s a real eye-opener to how much your eyes think you need!
The Mac N Cheese was good but a little simple and could have done with some chorizo or something similar. That’s probably the meat eater in me thinking that though! We enjoyed the variation of each meal and as we’re not fussy eaters, we got to try everything from spice, stews and fish! I love the fish dishes that Gousto does, I find fish one of the hardest meals to get right so these recipes allow it to be simple and very tasty.
How much are Gousto Food boxes?
This is the one thing that you can often be put off by – price. Gousto boxes are great value for money. Whilst we don’t subscribe to these weekly, I use these food boxes as a way to change up our meals, learn some new recipes and eat healthily.
