Skincare to make you feel good (when you have a cold) – [Ad]

How to look good when you're not feeling well - cold and flu season lifestyle and beauty blog - thebeautytype.com

After being bed bound for nearly a week, this year’s flu season hit me HARD. I ended up with a trip to the doctor on a Saturday night and dosed up on anti-biotics. Skincare to make you feel good, even when you don’t, can make you feel a bit more normal. Despite colds and flu being small on the illness scale, they can still leave you feeling lousy so here’s some products I can count on helping me feel a bit better, even if I’m still sniffling!

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo

This is one of my all time favourite products. Effaclar Duo is the miracle worker for clearer skin, especially for combination skin types. This helps ease my scars, lessen redness and get spots shifted quicker than normal. I find my skin often breaks out when I’m ill and one application of this quickly reduces bumps and pimples. This is often on offer at Escentual for only £11 which is a bargain product to keep in your bathroom cabinet. Find it here [LINK].

Bondi Sands Gradual Tanning Milk

I’m a pale gal – I’m only just a ‘normal’ colour after two holidays last year but that will quickly fade back to Snow White. It’s even more obvious that I’m ill when my colour is off. When it comes to cold and flu, you’ve just got to ride it out so why not top up your gradual tan with the wonderful Bondi Sands. This massive bottle allows you to build up your colour gradually, so no scary orange transformation overnight. This smells and applies wonderfully. Healthy in a bottle! Find out more here [LINK].

Decleor Paris Hydra Floral 24hr Hydrating Light Cream

If you’ve not discovered the wonderful aromessence powers of Decleor skincare, you really should. This month this wonderful cream is only £10 (down from £29) on Escentual [LINK]. This is a bargain not to be missed. Why though? This cream is so soothing when you’re suffering with dry skin from being ill. This sinks in quickly and smells incredible. This is a floral scent using active plant ingredients to boost your skin and bring moisture to the surface. Combine this with aromessence neroli and you’ve got a serious skincare duo. I love this day moisturiser and it suits all skin types. One use of this and I already feel like I have a better canvas than I started with.

No7 Total Renewal Micro-dermabrasion exfoliator

This skincare product was a revelation from my January boots haul. This little tube is something I will definitely repurchase before I’ve even finished it. Dermabrasion is something HOT in skincare right now what with derma planning and peels available in local beauty salons, I’ve been eager to try my own at home. This No7 exfoliator has teeny tiny granules in that you kind of harshly apply to your skin and massage deeply in for around two minutes. It reveals a bit of a red face, but give it a minute and you’re glowing.

I LOVE how soft, clean and revitalised this makes my skin. This is perfect after a dry skin week or lots of blemishes to help reveal a clearer complexion. This is only £11 [LINK] but lovely to use at home once a week. This is the one product I would say is the ultimate way to boost your skincare to make you feel good when you’re ill.

Nuxe Reve De Miel Honey Lip Balm

My lips turned into the kind that look like you’re wearing red lip liner when I had my flu. I even got Dan to search through all my makeup drawers to find this lip balm as it’s the one balm that works instantly. After a couple of applications in one day, my lips were soft and back to normal. This balm is perfect for severely dry lips and ideal during the winter too. It’s full of honey and shea butter and is super moisturising. This is incredible and should be replacing your vaseline instantly. Pick yours up for £7 here.

So whilst I’m nearly out of the worst flu I’ve had in years, I’m doing my best to look better and feel better. Have you felt the effects of this year’s flu? I feel for you if you have!
